System requirements
Screen Director requires an Apple-silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. 4K60 projects may need a higher-tier Mac than 1080p projects.
Screen Recording permission
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording. Enable Screen Director, then relaunch if macOS asks you to.
Microphone or camera
These permissions are requested only when you enable the corresponding track. Review them under Privacy & Security in System Settings.
Captions unavailable
Screen Director requires on-device recognition. Change the caption language or install support through macOS when available; audio is never silently sent to cloud recognition.
Recover a project
Open the original .screendirector package first. Continuous autosave and local recovery snapshots are designed to limit lost edits after an interruption.
Export stopped
Confirm the selected destination is writable and has enough free space. Retry with 1080p or 30 fps if your source and settings cannot sustain the requested export.
What is not in version 1?
Hosted links, accounts, collaboration, arbitrary video import, GIF, HDR, iPhone or iPad capture, masks, annotations, AI voiceovers, and noise removal are intentionally deferred.
