Summary
Screen Director does not require an account, include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, or upload your projects, recordings, captions, or exports. Version 1 has no cloud dependency.
Project and media data
Original screen, microphone, system-audio, and camera recordings are stored inside project packages on your Mac. Edits, pointer metadata, zooms, captions, thumbnails, and recovery snapshots are also stored locally. The app accesses project copies and export destinations only through locations you select using standard macOS panels.
Permissions
Screen Recording is requested when you choose a display, window, or region to record. Microphone and Camera are requested only when you enable their corresponding tracks. Speech Recognition is requested only when you create captions. Screen Director does not request Accessibility permission and does not capture keystrokes.
On-device captions
Caption recognition is required to run on device. If the selected language is not supported on device by your macOS version, Screen Director shows that captions are unavailable and does not send audio to a server.
Network access
The app does not need outbound network access for its core workflow. The public website is delivered by Cloudflare Pages and may receive standard web-server request data such as IP address, user agent, requested page, and timestamp as part of delivering the site. The website does not use advertising or product analytics scripts.
Diagnostics
Any future diagnostic report must be created explicitly by you. Reports redact project paths and do not attach captured media automatically.
Data deletion
You control project and export files through Finder. Deleting those files removes the content. Temporary preview caches live inside the project package and can be regenerated.
Changes
A change that introduces accounts, cloud processing, analytics, or hosted sharing requires an updated product decision and privacy policy. Material changes will be described in the release notes.
